About Me

About Me

Highly Experienced Physiotherapist

Kate Whitaker, Chartered Physiotherapist, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered. Member of professional networks AGILE and ACPIN of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

I have over 25 years experience as a physiotherapist. Much of that time was as a senior physio in an NHS community physiotherapy team. I have gained extensive experience working with people with a wide range of medical or long term conditions.

Specialist areas include:

  • Physio to reduce people’s risk of falling
  • Mobility problems
  • Elderly care
  • Hip, knee or other orthopaedic surgery recovery
  • Recovery from general surgery
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis (OA)
  • Osteoporosis
  • End of life /palliative care
  • Dementia
  • Parkinson’s
  • Stroke

Since the Pandemic I have worked with patients with Long Covid providing physio rehab, and also older people who have become deconditioned or weak due to lock-down restrictions.

I started my career in a district general hospital as a junior physio, gaining early experience across:

  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • General surgery
  • Neurology
  • Respiratory medicine and ICU
  • Out-patients
  • Elderly care
  • Cardiac rehabilitation.

For the next step in my career I took a physiotherapy role specialising in:

  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • General medical surgery
  • Palliative/end of life care
  • Out-patients

The above was in the Circle Health Group*, a private hospital group  (*formerly BMI Healthcare).

On moving back to the NHS I spent time as a senior physiotherapist specialising in:

  • Adult neurological rehabilitation
  • Paediatric physiotherapy

I returned to work with adults in the community, as referenced above.
